After a long time, the desire comes back to us to play with time. Of wanting to accompany, day after day, the people who carry out projects and initiatives for real, shared change. We return with a simple object, inside everyday life. To hang on the wall or keep on your desk. 14 plates born from an idea. That of narrating forgotten places, closed like cages or open to unexplored landscapes. Spaces where the nature of small things prevails, where dreaming can be more difficult. Places where no one ever goes. Human peripheries that want to become contexts and occasions for new opportunities. Where people, together, can think courageously about their future.

His mother is Filipino while his father is Swiss, he is Ligurian by birth but Japanese by adoption: that of Philip Giordano, born in 1980, could not be anything but boundless creativity. Childlike yet poetic traits, a touch that conceals profound meanings. Illustrations that go beyond time and space, suspended in that dimension typical of fairy tales.

My intention,' says Andrea D'Aquino, 'was to capture something universal, an imaginary journey that represents each one of us. That transcends geographical, linguistic and cultural specificities'. Union, solidarity. Things, people and animals move together.

WHEN I GROW UP
In this calendar, each month is dedicated to a particular trade, confirming how much the educational and professional dimension is a theme dear to the San Zeno Foundation, which supports projects in this field both in Italy and in other countries around the world. Because having a trade, shaping one's skills and passions means first and foremost having a place in society. The illustrations by cartoonist Valerio Vidali are enhanced by texts by Damir Jellici.

A HOME
Alice Lotti, illustrator and designer, for the 2016 calendar 'wanted to work on the concept of home in an ideal sense,' she tells us. The house thus becomes a space described by what is around it. White represents the essential. It is not a state of absence of colours or elements but plays a focal role in the illustration; the context around it, made up of sky, nature and animals, completes and gives strength to what seems to be absent. In this way, we construct meaning and significance, playing on the different ways of understanding the house, be it a tent, an igloo, a nest or the sky..."

14 original works created on fabric with threads and coloured paper cuttings. With creativity and great technical skill, Annalisa Bollini tells fantastic stories, representing each month with an imaginary animal. Some of Annalisa's embroideries were exhibited at the American Museum of Illustration in New York, after participating in the selection process organised by the Society of Illustrators.

TWELVE DREAMS
Dreaming by dreaming, 13 three-dimensional theatres narrate as many oneiric paths. Elegant and refined scenographies created with a new and very special technique using wood, cardboard, golden paper and natural elements such as branches, leaves and berries. There is a strong reference to Russian art, puppets and animation cinema.

Dada influences, late Romanesque figuration, vintage Disney and underground comics, all supported by a powerful colour scheme. These are the connotations of the style of Spider (aka Daniele Melani) who in his calendar interprets numbers with creative excitement and paradigmatic power. The 13 plates are realised on wood.

TWO TREES FOR TWELVE MONTHS
From the wonderful book Two Trees created by Alessandro Sanna on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the San Zeno Foundation, the idea for a new graphic project comes to life. Sanna's is our first calendar. Enriched with an anthology of quotes on the journey, it tells a short story about the common path of all living beings, where paths and wayfarers are together the protagonists of a fantastic journey that leads to new discoveries.
